Algernon Belmont

The last few weeks have been quite busy: work, beer, music and last but not least holiday.
But now back again, check out these phenomenal night shots by Algernon Belmont, a London based photographer currently studying a BA in Media and Sociology at Goldsmith University.

"I would describe my work as being heavily influenced by life within the city and the forces living within the confines of the metropolitan landscape has on the individual. I like looking at how individuals express themselves in different ways depending on the social and/or physical surroundings they find themselves in.
I try not to direct the subjects I photograph when shooting them; I want them to express their own understanding of the social world. I want them to ask themselves - How could or should someone react to the moment they find themselves in?
Most of my work is shot at night because I feel a lot of these emotive interactions to the immediate setting are actually heightened because sight is limited to within a certain distance." (http://poptasticspastic.com/huh/)

Thx for your email, Algernon! Photographers all over the world, submit a post suggestion to shotspotter {at} gmail.com.

An inspiring online mag with stunning photographs:
"TOURIST magazine is an ever evolving platform for art, music, some kind of fashion and literature. We don't look to compete but support and collaborate with artists, musicians and writers with similair or completely different points of view. We dont cherish brand spanking new music more than old, we don't applaud new collections more than previous ones and we don't look to advertise overpriced and by questionable standards, produced garments. When did expensive and impossible to find become so unbearably cool? I look to my 5 year old niece for inspiration when it comes to fashion and my 90 year old grandma when it comes to attitude." Gina Zacharias

Gina Zacharias is an emerging photographer, educated in Denmark, New York and Glasgow. I'd say there's definitely a Twin Peaks kind of atmosphere in her work and her statement on her Saatchi gallery page sounds almost like something Laura Palmer could have written in her secret diary: "I'm interested in the mystery that breathes behind things in every day life. […] I believe that fantastical moments are not only limited to the world of dreams but are also to be found in the everyday." (Text: Mrs. Deane)

Vintage Flickr set

Amazing vintage Flickr set by LA-based actionlog. "I collect vintage postcards, slides and magazines which I scan and put online for everyone to enjoy. I feel it is very important to put this kind of stuff on the internet as to make sure it does not disappear into obscurity."
